A Sustained, Long Term Outreach Ministry

St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, Hartsville social ministry activities, include:

  • ALPHA to attract the un-churched to Christ and equip them to love their neighbors as Christ first loved us.
  • The C.S. Lewis Center to improve literacy of children in elementary schools.
  • Elder Ministry in which members provide Sunday worship services, hymns, gospel music, and contemporary praise music to the elderly who reside in assisted livings centers and skilled care facilities in the Hartsville, Cheraw, and Florence areas.
  • Kairos Prison Ministry through which members help prison inmates strengthen their spiritual life and build a strong Christian community within the prison environment.
  • The Angel Tree where members donate gifts to needy people in the community.
  • Rebuilding Together (also called "Christmas in April") where members and local businesses organize teams to fix-up the homes of low income families with children, elderly persons, and disabled persons in their community.
  • Preparing and serving the noontime meal to the needy in the community in the Soup Kitchen of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
  • Domestic mission trips to New Orleans, LA to assist the Church of the Annunciation in their work among the devastated in the post-Katrina "Crescent City."
