Foothills Community Foundation was formed in 1999 to retain and nurture the charitable wealth in the four South Carolina counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens.

The Foundation receives its funding from individuals, families, and organizations interested in providing financial support for the charitable institutions and agencies serving the residents of the area. These gifts and bequests constitute the permanent endowment of the foundation. The income from the endowment is used to make grants to area charities.

Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations in the Foundation's service area for scholarship and education, community services, health, arts and culture, and recreation and youth. The Web site provides information on the foundation's board, staff, mission, and history; news; grants list; grant-making guidelines; and contact information.
